Welcome to BLAZE at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in partnership with St. Andrew the Apostle Youth Ministry.
This program is open to all St. Andrew the Apostle Parish girls, in Grades 6-8 for the 2024-25 school year. BLAZE will meet in the Padre Pio Room, one Friday a month, immediately preceding the Middle School Youth Group starting on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 5:00 to 6:15pm. Weather Policy: Blaze will follow the Fairfax County Public Schools for weather-related delays and cancellations.
About BLAZE BLAZE is a Walking with Purpose ministry for teen/tween girls that counteracts the way our society drives girls to question their identity, worth, and beauty. Through BLAZE, we emphasize how a girl’s identity is rooted in Christ as God’s chosen, beloved daughter. The relationships fostered in the program provide an alternative to the unhealthy ways our culture encourages teens to cope with challenges of their stage of life.
An antidote to bullying, feeling anxious, and body-image issues, BLAZEreplaces lies with truth and strengthens girls from the inside out through the use of Scripture-based programs.
How to pray in their own words and use the Bible as a tool for spiritual growth
Confidence in engaging in the world knowing they are Beloved Daughters of God
Each session, participants engage in an ice breaker activity and a short lesson based on a lie found in the world and a truth found in Scripture
The girls leave with a small takeaway gift which corresponds with the lesson
As the girls are introduced to the Bible in relevant and fresh ways, they will hear Jesus telling them how loved and beautiful they are! How does it work?
BLAZE is an adult-led program hosted in a small group setting that encourages discussion.
BLAZE integrates Scripture with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church to point girls to principles that affirm their true worth and identity.
BLAZE creates a space of mutual encouragement and support, and commits to the following values:
DROP YOUR MASK - Be your authentic self
SAFE PLACE TO ASK QUESTIONS - This is not school, there are no tests or grades. Ask questions from the heart.
CONFIDENTIALITY - Whatever is shared here, stays here - even during prayer time.
RESPECT - We communicate in ways that are respectful, offering grace and not judgment.
